Ooops! Sorry! I know, this should be wordless but I just can't help it.  I really want Max to win and have that free training in the hope that he'll be nicer to me and won't scare me off each time I would arrive home from work.

Thank you in advance!

Make My Day!

It has been a very tiring day.

Imagine, aside from enduring the heavy traffic, heavy rains, I needed to walk along Magallanes because of the super heavy traffic caused by some flood along the area. When I was finally at Pasay Rotonda, I thought everything is going to be 'as usual' but I was wrong.  LRT 1 was down  because of some technical issues which started earlier in the day (which unfortunately, I also needed to endure going to work today).

I rode the MRT instead.  The ride was pretty normal.  But arriving at Trinoma and riding to BBB was a different story.  There were very few buses and most of them are either full or super full.  As in, passengers are almost hanging from the bus door (for regular buses) and pressed to the glass door (for air conditioned buses). We even needed to knock on the bus door and beg the driver to let us in (the bus was very full by the way).

When I was finally able to ride a bus, I was seated (yes, I was able to sit a few minutes after riding the bus because some passengers got off at SM North) beside a pickpocket-maniac-drug addict-looking man who was trying to start a conversation with me.

Not the best day for me but yes, I'm alive, was able to get home late but safe, and I'm about to get some needed rest.

So, hooray for today!
I survived!

My Blogging Experience

-so far.

In my quest for a venue where I could just rant and rave about a lot of things in life, I found blogging.

Though I have created and abandoned blogs before, I would always – and I mean, always end up blogging especially on occasions where I am just so (I can’t find the word) that I want to go nagging.  But of course, I just can’t nag – at least not in the house.  So, all those frustrations, disappointments and well, nags are instead chronicled on blogs.  I rest knowing that all those crazy stuffs are never to be found by anyone or at least they won’t be found by people who personally know me (or else I’ll be doomed!).

So, when I created this blog in June this year, I chose Memoir Extraordinaire as its name.
(psst! You might be wondering – my entries before June 2013 were selected entries from my other abandoned blogs)

Does it sound like it’s a Filipina’s blog?
Though I have an explanation for choosing that – see it here – one of the reasons why I didn’t chose a blog name with a high probability of being easily recalled is that I DON’T WISH TO BE SEEN in the web.

Go, google Memoir Extraordinaire.  You’ll be on the 10th page already but you still won’t see my blog.  That was a success! I was able to hide my writings *wink*

But that was before I met all of you.
I have changed.  I don’t rant (that much) anymore.  I was inspired by your stories that I wish to inspire others too.  May blogging be my companion in doing so.
I do not know or at least I can’t remember how exactly it all started.  What I can remember is that my first readers are people from Europe (maybe because of my blog’s name) and maybe, just maybe, they got disappointed because they really can’t relate to my stories plus some of my oldest post have Filipino words (without translation) in them.

I met all of you through blog hops.
I stumbled upon the very first hop – The Weekend Block Party – that I joined through Can’t Google Everything (Oh, please don’t ask me how I found her because I can’t remember anymore or maybe I googled something and she appeared).  With the hops she’s hosting I met some of you.  Others, I met through blog hops hosted by other bloggers I stumbled on while blog hopping.  That was indeed fun!  I enjoyed reading your posts.

It was only one month and five days since I started blogging seriously (that means, blogging is no longer on the back seat) and I gained 97 followers (I hope all of them or at least most of them would read, enjoy, learn and get inspired by my experiences).  And in that one month, I met a fellow Filipina who blogs from Europe, Mercy Gallardo.  It thrilled me to know that I have met her though she's living half way around the globe through this medium – blogging.

Blogging can indeed connect people.

But somehow, I felt different.  It feels like something is missing.

It keeps me wondering if there are other Filipino bloggers, aside of course from those who make it big in the blogging scene like Chuvaness and Bag Hag (they are my examples before I stalk them *wink*) and travel bloggers like Am-bot ah! and Lakwatsero or those bloggers with specialization like fashion, food, politics, history etc.  I wish to meet personal bloggers (is that how we should be called?).

Little did I know that there are a lot!
I found Top Blogs Philippines and joined.

Earlier today, I found Blogs ng Pinoy while reading personal blogs from Top Blogs.  Oh, there are really a lot of pinoy blogs.
I have already started reading some of them.  Joined contest they are hosting. And left behind some comments!
It felt great reading blogs written by Filipinos and of course written in Filipino/Tagalog.

I guess, blogs ng pinoy is very similar to a blog hop.  The main idea is the same (from where I stand, it looks the same).  You can find there a list of Pinoy blogs based on different categories.
In the hope of connecting with my fellow Filipino bloggers, I have enlisted my blog and guess what?

What!?

The process was very easy but translating the blog description to Filipino (Tagalog for that matter) was pretty difficult.  It was a requirement though.  That would (sort of) make sure you are a pinoy blogger.

Anyway, I am very excited to read more of the pinoy blogs and oh, I will still stalk the non-pinoy blogs for sure!

Quotable Quotes

Remember that autograph book you had when you were younger? as in, when you were in grade school, maybe?  Yes, that book you would hand out to your classmates and friends with the intention of getting personal details from them.  Then, you would laugh at their answers because they sounded so weird. Imagine, you've just asked them what their MOST EMBARRASSING moment was.

Also, instead of listing down all the favorites - music, movie, etc - you'll end up getting TOO MANY TO MENTION as an answer.

Crazy.

Nonetheless, those books hold a lot of what we believe in, at least at that moment - like your Motto in life, Life Verse, Mantra or whatever name you call it.  Those stand for your belief and dispositions in life.

I remember one of my friends (I guess, he wasn't serious about it.  I hope so) once had this motto:

Time is gold. So, I will sell time.

Another friend had this for an answer when asked what LOVE is:

Love is the greatest gift you could ever give and the greatest sacrifice you could ever do.

I guess everyone has that motto or life verse or mantra in life.  Mine is simple:

Stop worrying!
Stop worrying about yesterday because it's over.
Stop worrying about tomorrow because it might not come at all.
Stop worrying about today so you could enjoy life to the fullest.

So, what's yours?

Weekender: Follow Your Dreams

Hello and welcome to the Weekender!
This time of the week is dedicated to my random thoughts about life, love and faith.  Mostly, they are the ones I would tell myself so I would be prepared to face yet another week - yes, the week ahead.

Let me share with you a story I have received via e-mail many many years ago.  It is a story of two brothers who, upon arriving at the condominium found out that the elevator wasn't working and won't be up sooner. Since they already wanted to get to their unit and get some rest, the brothers decided to use the stairs instead.  From the first floor to the tenth, the brothers were enjoying, talking and laughing.  However, when they got to the twenty-something floor (I forgot which floor it was), they were already fighting over who should carry their luggage as they are becoming heavier and heavier.  To stop the arguments, the brothers decided to just leave behind some bags.  Many bags were left along the way - on different floors. With less bags with them, their ascend was more relax and fun. Finally, the brothers reached their unit at the 60th floor. Though there were very exhausted, they were happy that they may finally get some (needed) rest.  However, they soon realized that the key to their unit was actually kept on one of the bags that they have left behind on the twenty-something floor.

Many times in our lives, following our dreams are difficult because of the current situation, the need to complete other tasks, responsibilities or even obligations.  Also, some paths to our dreams are uncomfortable, rough and rocky. Take for example those brothers who left their bags along the way. They may have had a more comfortable ascend but they also have left behind the key - the key to open their dream destination - their condo unit so they could get some rest. Fulfillment will only be achieved when we dared to take the uncomfortable path and follow our dreams.

In my life, I had left behind some dreams which I thought were too difficult to accomplish.  As I turn 30 this November, I'm promising myself to go back where I left those dreams some eight floors down so I could accomplish them (I hope it's never too late).  Also, I am creating a list of those things I so wanted to do when I was younger so I would be reminded and would never lose sight of the dreams - no matter how small they are. I will do this so I could track my accomplishments and when I finally reached the 60th floor, I will be able to tell myself how well I did in life.  Hopefully, I would be able to tell myself that I did a good job.

DREAMS, I'm coming to get you.  Get ready!

I AM AGAINST ANIMAL CRUELTY

I am supposed to write about something else for this weekend but when I saw this photo on facebook, I thought, it would be great to post it here as well (aside from sharing it on my personal facebook account) so it would reach more people.

When I investigated, this photo had been in circulation since June of this year (at least the one that I got/saw on my facebook news feed).

Oh, I don't really love pets especially dogs.  I don't know why but I'm scared of them.  That is until I met this wonderful pit bull - BRUNO.

He's waiting for his master, Kiboy

Bruno sporting his backpack.  He's super excited to go out and have his usual walk.

This is taken from one of our walks.  He's trying to catch a fly.  Tsk! Not paying attention to the camera.

Oh! Bruno has a baby brother (although the baby brother is a lot bigger than him).

Meet Max, the naughty rottie!  We affectionately call him BADBOY!

Sad? But why? or maybe not. :)

Max inside his sleeping quarter.  Ooopps! He's sleeping while on duty.

When I and their master Kiboy got married, Max was barely four months old (one day short of being four months old to be exact).  At the time, he needs to eat in the evening.  But since Kiboy won't be home until the next day (with me) and the rest of the household won't be home until late in the evening, Max went to our wedding - with a nanny!  He officially became the bridal dog. :)

See the man in blue? He's Max's nanny for the day.

Bruno and Max with the master :)

So PLEASE, DON'T BE CRUEL TO THEM!

Many thanks to Joey Moonshine for the I'm against animal cruelty photo.

My Weekender offering will be posted later today.
So, stay tuned.

What I Did While Out of the Blogosphere

Friday saw me shopping for yet additional baking materials.  Talk about being serious on baking! :)  Met up with Kiboy after office hours at SM Megamall just in time for dinner. After a hefty dinner, I proceeded to check out the available baking equipment at the department store while Kiboy went on to check the latest toys at Jae's Collectibles (someday, I will be writing about his collections!).  Friday wasn't so great.  I only managed to buy the round baking pans which I will be using for Aya's birthday cake.  Dropping by the supermarket, I was able to buy some baking ingredients. Awesome!

It rained heavily on that night so instead of going to Sitel's office (Kiboy's employer) to claim his company shirt, we headed home - on a bus caught in super heavy traffic.  What was I supposed to expect, we were at EDSA.

We woke up to a cold Saturday morning after snoozing for five more minutes...then another five...then another. :) Saturday was spent mall hopping.  The agenda?

1.  Get a gelatin mold for Leila (the ever supportive engineering assistant)
2.  Get  a chocolate mold for me (ahem!)
3.  Get Rhino for Kiboy
4.  Get that WWF figure Kiboy has always wanted (at least for a couple of weeks or so)

Since we were not able to get his company shirt last night, here's agenda #5: drop by Sitel's and get a company shirt (so important huh!)

Our first stop was at Robinsons Galleria where we bought Rhino.

Next is Sitel.  However, on our way there, the rain had started pouring again and the wind was blowing so hard.  Kiboy wanted to cancel that route but I insisted since we were already there.  Unfortunately, the personnel said claiming is only from 3pm to 12mn Mondays to Fridays.  Wasted time?  I can't tell for sure.

That being said, we headed to our third stop - Jae's Collectibles, SM Megamall.  Arriving at the mall, we immediately proceeded to Jae's.  But upon thorough inspection, Kiboy did not bought the WWF figure.  The reason? - he wasn't satisfied with its packaging (the collector's eye was turned on at the time)

The fourth and last stop was Landmark, Trinoma.  Though I was able to get the gelatin and chocolate molds that I wanted plus some muffin liners and not to mention a bonus silicon spatula, I wasn't so happy.  I felt, I needed more :(

I guess that's all for saturday.

Sunday came so soon.  Nothing much aside from cleaning the house, preparing the office clothes for the coming week, hearing mass and blogging a little.  Little did I know that sunday night is going to be drastically remarkable.

I embarked on a chicken roasting activity for dinner.  I was so excited but to cut the super long and agonizing story, I burnt my hand.  Yes, burnt my hand.

But that was not the worst weekend ending yet.  We didn't like the chicken.  It was a super failure.
Sunday, was a never-to-be-repeated day.  Of course, who wants to be burnt time and again?

The rain poured heavily since Sunday night and we woke up to a flooded highway on Monday.  Oh flood!  I decided to stay home and be safe the whole morning since the major roads that I will take going to the office are flooded.  I never wanted to have a Maring Typhoon experience part 2.

The rain had stopped around noon.  I went to the office because there are a lot of things to do - and I mean A LOT.

Tuesday was not that good too.  I left my keys at home which means I won't be able to open my shoe locker and my office drawers! My morning was saved because my newly issued ESD shoes was under my table and not on my shoe locker.  So I was using a new shoes on TS audit's first day...awesome...but it was not comfortable.  I want my old shoes.

Good thing that I have the spare keys so my day went ahead as usual.
Arriving home during that night was a different story though.  I don't have the keys which means I have to call someone to open the gate and doors for me.  I can't use the doorbell for some reason which I can't tell you.  It's a secret, you know. :)  Other thing is, I can't call father to open the gate because of cellphone signal issues.

While I was outside the house, a vehicle had stopped directly in front of me.  Opened the window to the passenger side but never said a word.  I was tempted to ask if he needs anything but decided not to.  I thought, if he needed anything or wanted to know something, he should have asked and not just stopped in front of me.  He was looking at me as if he wants to talk to me.  The friendliest in me thought that he was a jerk, a kidnapper, a rapist?, a killer?  I'm not sure.  But the point is, no one in the right frame of mind will actually stop directly in front of a private residence if he/she doesn't need anything from that residence.

I was reminded of Kae Davantes' case.  She was grabbed when she was about to enter the gates of her house, robbed and killed thereafter.  I immediately took refuge at a nearby internet shop.  After about five minutes, the vehicle left without saying a word - just in time so father won't catch him staying in front of our house for no reason.  Good for him!

Wednesday is Aya's birthday and the second day of our TS audit.  Remember the birthday cakes I told you about? I was not able to bake them.  I was just so tired, sleepy, tired, sleepy  Had I mentioned, tired?  They were supposed to look like this:

I don't have much to do with the audit on its first day and second day.  Except that, I was expected to stay and wait for any thing that might be needed from me.  And you know what?  That's the hardest and the most tiring of all activities.

Thursday is my audit day.  I was on the production line for most of the day.  Sat with the Malaysian auditor (he's not the lead auditor by the way) for the MSA (measurement systems analysis) audit, stayed doing nothing from 6pm to 10pm except for the document review, data monitoring and line checking (and I call that nothing). And oh, waiting again for the graveyard shift audit that should start promptly at 10pm.  We went home at 11:45pm

I arrived home at 1:30am.
Hey! It's already Friday.

The audit result released on Friday afternoon wasn't really bad but it wasn't good either.
I went home early.

Met up with Kiboy again at SM Megamall (because he works nearby).

Saturday, I was supposed to be blogging but I needed to clean the clutter in the house.  Kiboy was sick so I accompanied him to the clinic with the weirdest doctor in town :)

So here, I'm blogging on a super early Sunday morning (early based on my Sunday waking up habit) and catching up on the latest and hottest blogosphere happenings while waiting for the mall opening hours.  Yikes!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Of Running and Being Fit

I so miss running.
Or should I say, walking.
But I think, it is worth noting that I finished all of them in less than an hour!

34th National Milo Marathon - July 2010
A run shared with Kiboy (now my husband) and Sis Beng (my youngest sister)
What's with the bracelet?
That indicates you've finished the race. No, not exactly. But that is a souvenir given after the race.
10-10-10 Run for Pasig River
Run shared with Sis Beng
/That picture above is oh so great if not for that man who ruined it./

Hyundai Run for a Cause - April 2011
Run shared with Sis Beng
I hope to run again and run some more in the coming days.

The Wonders of Umbrella

Until the sun comes out again for you, my umbrella is big enough for two.
-Unknown

You have to carry one every single day of your life (I think so! or so I thought!).

It will protect you against the scorching heat of the sun

and your friends will ask 'What's with the payong (umbrella)? :)

It will protect you against the rain (pouring like crazy or not)
/sorry Kat, I stole your profile picture. And thank you, too!/

You may use it as a cane

You may also use it as a weapon.  In fact, that's the only weapon (aside from alcohol and pepper spray?) that will be allowed inside the LRT/MRT (subway) without any question (at least in my opinion).

Aside from its daily purpose, you may also use it for pictorial – pre-nuptial, wedding, etc.

Or an accessory during a costume party!

And take home the Best in Costume Award! :)

So what are you waiting for?
Own one today!

Thank you Google images for the cane, weapon and wedding pictures!

Weekender: The Box for the Lord

Happiness is not the absence of problems, it's the ability to deal with them.
-Steve Maraboli

Problem - a difficulty that has to be solved or dealt with.
- Dictionary.com

A problem is like a package knocking furiously on your doorstep.

And while you are not yet done checking its contents, another one comes along.

and still another one.

and so on.

So you end up with

Well, you are not alone.
Yes, you are not alone.

Everybody has a problem.  Some big, some small.  Some are trivial while some are not.  Oftentimes, even the smallest problems for some would seem unbearable for others.

Remember the quote "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder"?  In the same manner I would say, "The size and gravity of a problem are in the eyes of the beholder".  It is basically because how we handle our problem is directly affected by our emotional state and psychological state at the time (should I include financial there?).

While we can solve some of them, others are just too heavy to be borne.  At that point, we would need to transfer them.

For He said "cast your burdens upon me".

And yes indeed, we need to do that.
Have an unsinkable faith.

PRAY.

Remember:

Just
Always
Pray
At
Night (and Day, too!)

Thank you for dropping by.
Happy weekend!

Thanks to Google for the images.
Sorry for the lousy text on the images.
I made them on Powerpoint. Imagine :)

Challenge Your Mind Challenge: How Many Squares?

Found this while sorting my training stuffs.
Let me know how many squares you've counted.

Happy counting! :)

Training 101

A couple of days ago, I attended the worst training session I can ever think of.
Yes, the worst.

That moment when you'd like to write "He is everything a trainer is not supposed to be." on the comment section of the evaluation form that says "Do not leave this blank.".  But of course, I did not do that.  I'm so nice to do that, you know.  Instead, I wrote the specific items that made him everything a trainer is not supposed to be.  Sorry.

I will not rant though.
What? I just did?
Uh oh!

Okay, although I am not a perfect trainer (who is by the way?) I will be sharing to you the things I have learned since I started training people - from co-employees coming from different levels of our organization to suppliers who would barely listen and ask again...then again.

So here goes:

1.  Come on time.
Although your participants or trainees will wait for you (as if they have a choice), you have to respect their schedule.  They have other stuffs to do - maybe not in the office since they have already allotted that day for you but consider the things they need to do back home.  They also have a life, you know.

Think about this:  they left their home earlier than usual just to arrive on time for your training. Who knows what they had given up? Nobody. Then, there YOU are, coming two hours late.

2. Wear something appropriate but make sure it is comfortable.
Remember, you are the trainer.  With that in mind, you should know that you will be standing in front most of the time.  You can go to the side, walk across the aisle or even walk around the hall/room but most of the time, you will be standing in front.  All eyes will be on you except those sleepy eyes and those that aren't interested at all.  Added to that is the fact that your participants will be sitting (at least most of the time) which will make you stand out in the room.  Eyes will really be on you.

Think about this: you are wearing a long sleeved polo topped with a coat (and a black pants of course! - silly you!) or a sleeveless dress (for women) then as soon as you arrive, you would start complaining about the temperature.  That's just very distracting! Not just for you but more so for your participants.

Or

You might have opted to wear something because it looks good on you or maybe because it looks good but unfortunately, comfort isn't guaranteed.  So you'll end up either rolling the sleeves up and down while training (standing in front), pulling something here and there and the likes.  That is not just distracting but more of DISGUSTING.

3. Begin in a friendly way.
How you begin the training session will set the tone of the entire training.  Beginning in a friendly way doesn't mean giving your participants chocolates or stuffs (that's bribing! *wink*).  It is as simple as a Hi, a Hello or a greeting such as good morning, good afternoon or good evening whichever is applicable.

You are there to train and not to declare martial law. Right?
So smile.

4. Be prepared.
Nothing beats a prepared trainer.  Bring all the materials needed for the training.  Organize your files - powerpoint presentations, sample documents etc.  Make sure you know how to navigate through your files.  Know where that zoom button or slide show button is located, where to click this and that. As simple as that.

In case for some reason, you were not able to finish your materials, never say: "This presentation is not yet done." or "I wasn't able to finish my presentation for today."

Nobody will know unless you tell them.  Honesty is the best policy, that's true.  But you are not lying. Nobody is asking whether you have finished your presentation or not, anyway.  However, you still have to be prepared to explain the other topics that are part of the training. Yes, even without your cheat notes.

Well I guess, that's all for today.

Thank you for dropping by.
Until next time. :)

Rona's Greatest Masterpiece. YET.

I so wanted to blog about my tips for commuters especially for those who ride the PUJs and the LRT but unfortunately, I don’t know how to explain my tips so you could clearly visualize them.

I also cannot take a photo during my jeepney ride (snatchers are so everywhere. I can’t risk, you know.).  Same goes during my LRT ride.
So I decided to just draw the scenario so you could visualize my tips.
Yes, I’m that thoughtful.
You're welcome.

--------------------------
Earlier today, I got bored.  Ooooops! Don't get me wrong.  I have a long list of To Do's. I was busy (honestly!).  But boredom overtook me. :(

Since I am a GREAT artist when I'm bored, I drew this:

Awesome, right?
Thank you.

Though I enjoyed it, I'm still bored.
/since it only took me one minute to draw that. boastful huh!/

But aside from being a GREAT artist, I'm also a GREAT thinker when I'm bored.  Taaaadaaaah!

That is when I decided to take the time and draw my commuting Tip#1.
See? Even in boredom, I can be productive!

So here goes my Commuting Tip#1:

When you are the last passenger to ride that jeepney, and the others are not making any effort to give you some space to sit on, here's what you have to do:

See that shaded area in the picture above? Yes, that area where the red arrow is pointing at.  That is the space where you should sit.

And see that green arrow? That is where your back should rest.  Make sure that your back touches that side of the jeep.

Doing so will make your 'seatmates' annoyed to say the least.  That is because, you'll be sitting/hitting their hips or thighs which is really very annoying!

But remember, sit comfortably.
I repeat, comfortably.

Never mind how they would look at you for the next five seconds or so.
That is going to be worth it.  Chances are (and I mean, it is almost a sure thing) they will move sideways (away from you! - was it the right description?) and taaaadaaaah! you'll have enough space and you'll realize that there is enough space for everyone.

Commuting Tip#2:
If you are that 'seatmate', be considerate enough.
Move!

I shall be posting more tips when the mood strikes again :)

--------------------------
In other news, I've shown my girls my drawings and they were so happy about it (or so I thought!).So I offered to draw them too to which they got over excited! *wink*

So here, meet my Girls...at the Time In area :)

Oh! Let me explain the last drawing.  I got tired.  That's just it.  It is an unfinished drawing. Seriously! Peace Kat!

/I was not able to get the permission of the morning Girls so no drawing for them/

(Mis)Adventures with Maring

It's a work day today and it's raining like crazy.

Normally, I would love it.  However, since I was also out of the office yesterday because of the same reason, I wanted to go to work today.

Yes, you read that right.  I want to go to work today.
I oh so miss my cubicle and my long list of To Do's.

Knowing that nobody else is going to finish all those stuffs for me, I packed my office clothes, sandwiches, left the comfort of our home and vanished into the rain.

I told myself:  I may get really wet but I'll get there and attend the 10 AM Control Plan meeting! (See, I'm not really that tamad!)

Oh well, BBB is already flooded knee-deep when I got there.  So I took a tricycle and went to A. Fernando St. which is still passable and no sign of flood during that time.  Going to LRT Monumento station was a breeze.

Since most of the classes and work on government offices were suspended, only a few of us were on the station.  In fact, I was already at the platform paid area after three (3) minutes!  On ordinary Tuesday, that would take around 40 minutes. :)

Some 30 minutes later, I was already at EDSA station.

And look!
There is a river!

See that yellow bus there? And the passengers who are being rescued?  That's the side of the road where I should go and catch a jeepney going to Bicutan.

The verdict?
Go HOME!

No doubt.

So there.  I took the LRT trip back to Monumento station.

When I was already seated (an evidence that most of the LRT riders opted to stay at home), I saw that man in white.
Yes, that man whose face was half-captured in the photo (because there's this man(?) who was dancing (or maybe s/he was simply uncomfortable because of the weather) in from of him) was seated beside me on my way to EDSA from Monumento.

See? It wasn't just me who got scared of the Pasay flood.  That man, too! And who's not by the way?

Arriving at Monumento station, I decided to go grocery-ing!
Ooops! I'm not on panic-buying mode.  I just wanted to uhm...kill time (huh?).

After about 10 minutes Sa Tindahan ni Aling Puring, I was ready to get wet again.

Wet it is.  I needed to walk towards 10th Avenue just to cross the street so I could avoid the flood. And it took me around 20 minutes (after arriving at 10th Ave.) before I was able to catch a jeep going to Malinta/Malanday (that should be the sign board).

A couple of minutes into the ride, the lady seating beside me started talking.  Apparently, she was trying to start a conversation...with me. Seriously?  Well, she was looking at me so I guess, with me.

She goes:  Pag maaraw, traffic (maybe she means heavy traffic!).  Pag umuulan, baha!

As expected, the friendliest in me decided to ignore her comments, busied myself with my grocery bag and finally, attempted to take a photo of her (to be included on this post). :)

/sorry, I was not able to take a good shot/

She failed on her first attempt to start a conversation so after a few minutes of silence, she said (there she is again!):  Si Maring tumitindi pa, buti na lang pauwi na ako! Blah Blah Blah Blah!

Thank goodness, it's Tullahan bridge already.  I immediately got off the jeep and was welcomed by this:

This was A. Fernando St.  after less than three hours.
And yes, that's the route I took going home today.

After traversing that seemingly endless flood, I was able to catch a tricycle.
Woohoo! Home, I'm coming!

But wait, there's more.

The tricycle driver said that the fare is 15 pesos so I gave him a 20-peso bill (because I don't have enough coins).

Then he said:  Baka may barya ka dyan kasi wala talaga akong pansukli (but he was holding a coin - big enough I'm sure it is not a one-peso coin).

So I said:  Wala akong barya. Kung gusto mo, 10 pesos. Eto oh!

Him: Eto pala limang piso. (showing and giving me the coin he was holding!).

And I was right.  He was holding a five-peso coin.  He simply doesn't want to give me a change!

Wise huh!
But I'm wiser! :)

I was greeted by the lovely Kiboy at the gate (because I texted him to open the gate).

Thank God, I'm home. :)
